Description
These are a pair of houses, now shops with flats above, dating to around 1840. Part of a longer range remains. The houses were altered in the 20th century. They are built of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a Welsh slate roof. The roof is hipped on the left and gabled on the right, with wide eaves featuring panelled undersides and small, decorative carved brackets (modillions).
The exterior is three storeys high. The first floor has two twelve-pane sash windows, set back within brick arches with painted stucco sills. The second floor also has two six-pane sash windows. A decorative band runs along the first-floor level. The ground floor features an early 20th-century shopfront on the left with a two-light display window, a glazed door flanked by pilasters with carved tops, and a projecting fascia with a blind box. A mid-20th-century shopfront is located on the right. The gable wall and a rear extension on the west side were rebuilt in the early 1970s.
The interior has not been inspected. Parts of the original range were demolished in the 1970s.
