Description
The octagonal building at St Margarets, located 40 metres east-north-east of the farmhouse, is a former dovecote that has been converted into a farm store. It likely dates from the 17th century and is cased in regular brickwork with some black headers from the 18th century. The building was converted to two storeys with a low basement in the 19th century. Inside, it features English-bond red brick, while the exterior is finished in Flemish-bond red brick. The roof is pointed and covered with slate, complete with a finial and overhanging eaves. Access is via a door located up steps on the southwest side. A 19th-century chimney has been added at the eaves on the southeast side, and there is a small upper window situated under the eaves. The building has timber suspended floors and a cranked staircase. It is part of a picturesque farmyard group and contributes to the setting of The Clock House to the north.
