Description
The barn at Olives Farm, dating from the 17th century, is a timber-framed structure that has been weatherboarded. It features six bays and stands on a low brick plinth with a steep gabled roof, which is now covered in corrugated iron. The barn faces west and includes two gabled porches, with opposed doors located in the east wall. It has jowled posts that are supported by long curved braces leading to the tie-beams. The walls also have curved braces with rails that are tennoned in line. The upper part of the roof has been rebuilt, and there are face-halved bladed scarf joints in the wall plate over each post. This historic timber-framed barn is part of the picturesque group at Olives Farm.
