Description

Hudnall Farm is a farmhouse, now a private house, dating back to the 16th century. It was originally a timber-framed structure, likely extending further east, and was later encased in brick and extended westward in the 19th century, with a further rear wing added in the 20th century. The eastern part of the main range is timber framed with red brick casing on the south and east sides, and red tile hanging on the first floor on the north side, covering a half-timbered ground floor with white plastered panels. The northern extension has a machine-red tile roof and tile hanging on the first floor over a white-painted brick ground floor. It is now part of a T-shaped house facing south, with the entrance situated in the northeastern corner. It features flush two-light casement windows.

Inside, the east part of the house has heavy, flat joists and a heavy chamfered axial beam in the east bay, with an entrance and staircase in the west side of a wider bay to the west. The axial beam has entrance and stair stops, and the joists are chamfered and stopped. There is a fine cambered tie-beam at the east end of the roof truss and an open truss. A large chimney, likely dating from the 17th century or earlier, is located in the west bay against the east side of the open truss. The roof has side-purlin queen-strut construction.
