Description
Kings Cottage is a timber-framed and plastered building that dates back to the 15th century but has been altered in the 17th century and later. It is designed in an L-shaped plan with a gable on the north-east side. The upper storey features exposed timber-framing on the north-east side and was formerly jettied. The building has two storeys and a two-window range on the front, consisting of double-hung sashes with glazing bars and casements. On the north-east front, there is a former shop window from the 18th or early 19th century, also with glazing bars. The roof is partly covered with pantiles and partly with tiles, and it includes a 17th-century chimney stack with grouped diagonal shafts. Inside, the building has exposed ceiling beams and joists, as well as a dragon beam and joists that likely date back to the original construction.
