Description
Gaston House is a late 18th-century house that stands three storeys high with a cellar. It features a grey slate roof and is constructed of red brick, topped with stone coping on the parapet. The façade includes a five-window range with small paned double hung sashes set in plain reveals, and is adorned with gauged brick arches. A flight of four steps leads up to a Doric porch. The house has three red brick rectangular chimney stacks. To the left, there is a single-storey extension with a matching two-window range, and to the right, a 20th-century garage block with a five-window range. Inside, notable features include a contemporary staircase, replacement doors within original architraves that have corner patera, two Ionic columns in the hall, several fine fire surrounds, and plastered ceilings along with original friezes, dados, and wainscots.
