Description
9-15 Village Street consists of a row of houses that were amalgamated and renumbered in the 20th century, with Nos. 17-23 no longer existing. The front elevation faces north-south.
No. 9 is a 19th-century building featuring flint cobble and red brick banding with dressings, a slate roof, and a north end stack. It has two storeys, a two-window range, sliding sash windows, and a central boarded door, with segment-headed windows and door.
No. 11 is timber-framed and plastered, with a low-pitched slate roof, two front doors, and sliding sash windows.
No. 13 is one and a half storeys, also timber-framed and plastered, with a peg-tiled roof, three windows, a dormer, and two street doors.
No. 15 is two storeys, timber-framed and plastered with ashlar lining, a slated roof, a two-window range, sliding sash windows, and a central front door. The south end gable has a 20th-century lean-to addition made of rendered brickwork, a peg-tiled roof, and two 20th-century casement windows.
The rear east elevation of No. 9 is similar to the front and includes a 20th-century lean-to. No. 11 has a flint wall with a two-storey integral lean-to. No. 13 features a gabled early 18th-century brick wing. The interior of No. 13 has plain 17th/18th-century timber framing.
