Description
Hyfield is a house dating from the late 13th century, with a garage extension to the left featuring a gabled dormer and a lean-to extension to the right that includes an open porch. The building has two storeys and is topped with a red plain tile roof. The exterior displays an exposed timber frame with plaster infill and a range of four small-paned casement windows. There are external red brick chimney stacks on both the right and left sides. The timber frame includes secondary rafters, an integral first floor, and notched and secret notched lap joints. The scarf joints are splayed and tabled, with undersquinted, sallied butts. While the original purpose of this structure is unknown, it was converted into a house in the 16th century.
