Description
This is a 17th-century timber-framed house with alterations made in the 18th century, located on Birchanger Lane. The front of the building was given an 18th-century “Gothic” style makeover, featuring a parapet and a cornice decorated with modillions. The house is two storeys high with attics, and has three windows across the front. These windows are pointed arched, in a Gothic style. A central double door with four panels is flanked by smaller pointed arched windows featuring quatrefoil designs. An open portico projects from the front, supported by slender cast iron columns. The roof is tiled, and three modern dormers have been added. Evidence of the original 17th-century timber frame remains.
