Description

Numbers 7A and 9 are a pair of houses dating from the early 19th century, with earlier timber-framing. The construction is a mix of timber frame, weatherboarding, and gault brick in Flemish bond. The roof is tiled. The two-storey front elevation features a central dormer window with weatherboarded sides and a 2-light casement window with a cross glazing pattern to each light. The south side of the front elevation has a parapet and gault brickwork with a string band above the first floor. A central first-floor window is a 12-pane double-hung sash with a brick arch head. The ground floor has a central canted bay with double-hung sashes and a glazed panel in the roof. The north side of the front elevation is painted weatherboarding with a parapet, and contains a 16-pane double-hung sash window on the first floor. The ground floor has a pair of linked entrance doors incorporating four reused panels from the mid-16th century, which have Renaissance detailing and profile heads. Cast iron bollards, matching those at Number 7, are positioned in front of the doors.
