Description
This is a 17th-century public house located in Takeley, incorporating elements of a 15th-century building. It is timber-framed with plaster infill and has a thatched roof. The building is two storeys high and has a four-window front with modern casement windows. A 17th-century red brick chimney stack is present, featuring diagonal shafts. The plan is T-shaped, with a lean-to addition on the west end. Internally, both original 15th-century and 17th-century timber framing are exposed.
