Description
Deal Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a tiled roof. The main block has three bays and is aligned northwest to southeast, featuring a crosswing at the northwest end and an axial chimney stack at the junction, which creates a lobby entrance. There are external chimney stacks at both ends of the building. A two-storey extension is located at the rear angle. Both roofs were rebuilt in the 19th century, with the crosswing roof realigned to run northwest to southeast. The farmhouse has four 20th-century casement windows and a glazed door set in a 20th-century gabled porch; on the first floor, there are three additional 20th-century casement windows. Inside the crosswing, there is a stop-chamfered beam, but no other internal framing was visible as of December 1982.
