Description

Bendysh Hall is an early to mid-16th century moated farmhouse. A date panel on the central chimney stack displays the date 1631 and the initials N.T.F, likely referring to Sir Thomas Fisher. The building is timber-framed and originally plastered. The south end suffered a fire before the Second World War and was subsequently rebuilt in brick with a slate roof. The house is two storeys high. At the north end of the west front, part of the upper storey juts out on curved brackets, creating a curved eaves line and a swept roof above. The windows are generally modern casements. The roof of the original portion is tiled, and it includes an original chimney stack with diagonal shafts on a square base. The base of the chimney features a plastered panel which bears a modern date; this was previously recorded as 1659.
