Description
Crown House is a large red brick building originating from the 18th century, with later alterations, especially on the west front. The structure consists of a main block divided into two parts and an east wing at the north end. The southern part of the main block has three storeys and attics, while the northern part has three storeys. The east wing features two storeys and attics. The building has a two:one:three window arrangement of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The southern section, which has a three-window range, includes end pilasters and an open pediment with a lunette window. There is a central semi-circular arched window on the second storey and a splayed oriel window with a pediment on the first storey. The northern part, with a two-window range, features a corniced parapet and a two-storeyed splayed central bay of four lights, topped with a dentilled cornice. The entrance is marked by a Tuscan doorcase with plain columns and a cornice. The roofs are tiled and include two hipped dormers on the east wing.
