Description

This barn, located approximately 40 meters southeast of Spitland, dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It features weatherboard cladding over a timber frame and has a gabled roof made of corrugated iron. The barn has a three-bay plan with a central midstrey. Inside, there are curved wall braces extending from the ground cills to the wall posts, which are braced to the tie beams. The roof is a collar-truss design with clasped purlins and side struts, although it was rebuilt in the 19th or 20th century, while the original common rafters remain. This barn is included in the listing for its group value context.
