Description

The barn at Westbury dates from around 1600 and is a single-aisled structure. It is timber framed and plastered, featuring weatherboarded end gables and dado. The roof is made of corrugated iron, with 19th-century gabled and lean-to access points added to the south side, along with a lean-to extension at the west end of the south side. Inside, the original frame is nearly intact, showcasing jowled main posts, arch-braced tie beams, and a Queen post roof with wind-braced lodged side purlins. The arcade plate and top plate display halved and bladed scarfs.
