Description
The Round House is a lodge cottage built in the 18th or early 19th century and renovated in 1982. It is timber framed, plastered, and has a slate roof. The building is octagonal in shape, featuring a northeast door and a central stack. It has two storeys, with a 20th-century casement window with a Tudor head on each side of the front door on both floors, and a similar blank opening above the door. The door itself, located in a gabled porch, also has a Tudor head. The rear of the building has plain doors and 20th-century casements. Inside, the original layout is preserved with two rooms on each floor. The Round House is depicted in the tithe award of 1841 held at the Essex Record Office.
