Description

Trinity House Cottages, a terrace of four dwellings, were built in the mid-19th century. The brick construction is faced with white ashlar render, and the roofs are low-pitched Welsh slate. The cottages are arranged in a 'U' shape. Each unit features a tall, black-painted ridgeline stack with pronounced oversailing courses at the top. The upper floor of each cottage has a recessed medieval-style double-hung sash window flanked by smaller double-hung sash windows with multiple panes. The ground floor has two symmetrical double-hung sashes with twelve panes each, and a projecting gable porch in the centre. Each porch has a door with six flush panels, a six-pane double-hung sash window above, and a moulded and painted Trinity House crest set in a rectangular frame. The return flanks of Nos. 35 and 41 project forward on the north facade, with parapeted gables and double-hung sash windows with twelve panes on each floor. 20th-century two-storey extensions are located behind Nos. 35 and 41, alongside a single-story flat-roofed extension within the 'U' shape. The interior was not inspected. Contemporary white-painted boundary walls with semicircular coping enclose a rear garden with two double-gabled, slate-roofed outhouses.
