Description
Plumptons Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with an inscribed date of 1671, although it may be older. It has undergone later alterations and features a rear addition. The farmhouse is timber framed and faced with 19th-century red and gault brick. It has a hipped roof covered with red plain tiles. There are two red brick chimney stacks, one attached to the right side and another on the left. The building has gault brick quoins, window, and door dressings. It stands two storeys high and has a four-window range of 19th-century two-light casements. The door, located off centre to the left, is from the 20th century. Inside, part of the timber frame is exposed, showcasing jowled storey posts, heavy chamfered and cambered tie beams, and original floorboards on the first floor. A beam adjacent to the stairs is inscribed with the date 1671. The large chimney stack has been modified to include a 20th-century fireplace.
