Description

Lucas's Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1600, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is timber-framed and has plaster walls, covered by a slate roof. The house originally comprised two bays facing north, with an internal stack positioned along the central axis, and a single-bay extension to the right. A single-story extension to the left features weatherboarding and a hipped roof covered with red clay pantiles. The main house is one story high with attics. There are seven 20th-century casement windows, and two more in a lean-to dormer. A 20th-century half-glazed door is sheltered by a simple canopy. The roof was rebuilt as a gambrel roof in the 18th or 19th century. Inside the left bay is a chamfered axial beam, along with a transverse beam and an axial beam in the right bay, all of which have an ovolo moulding. The joists have plastered soffits.
