Description

Brick House Farmhouse is an early 18th-century house located on New Hall Lane, Mundon. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a roof of handmade red clay tiles. It has a rectangular plan, facing northwest, and incorporates external stacks at both ends. A 20th-century single-storey extension is attached to the right side, and a 20th-century two-storey extension is located behind the right end of the main building. The front elevation has two 18th-century four-light windows on the ground floor, each with two wrought iron casements and two fixed lights, all featuring rectangular leaded panes. The first floor has four 18th-century three-light windows, similarly constructed with one wrought iron casement each and rectangular leaded panes. A central 20th-century door provides access. The brickwork on the front of the building has been repaired above the first-floor level, and this work includes the window arches. The house has curvilinear parapet gables. The rear of the main building features two fixed lights on the ground floor and two three-light windows on the first floor, both matching the style of the front windows. Other 18th-century casement windows have been re-set in the 20th-century rear extension. The property was named Brick House on Chapman and André’s map of 1777.
