Description
Hill House is a building that likely dates from the late 16th century, with an 18th century re-styling. It is timber-framed and features two stair towers, one on each side of the front elevation (west). Both towers have pyramidal roofs covered with peg tiles and include small-paned windows, although the top two windows are blocked and painted. The central part of the house has a hipped peg-tiled roof with coved plastered eaves and two flat dormers that contain small paned sash windows.
On the first storey, there are three hornless small paned sash windows set in plaster architraves with key stones. The central entrance features a round-headed stuccoed doorcase with a leaded fanlight above and a blank date-panel. Flanking the door, which consists of six fielded panels and has a wreath knocker, are three hornless small-paned sash windows. The building has a complex plan. Inside, there is a late 18th century staircase and handrail.
