Description
The Alliance Building Society and Messrs Rogett in Wakefield is a house built around 1800. It is constructed of red brick and features a double range with a hipped grey slate roof. The building has two storeys and a central band at the first floor. The road-facing and main left return front has a five-window range of small paned vertical sliding sashes, although one window on the road frontage is blocked. The ground floor has three ranges of recessed arches on the right and left, with a central window also blocked, and a gauged brick arch above the road frontage. The main front includes a matching window in recessed arches at ground level. The central entrance features a 20th-century glazed door set in a fluted surround with carved corner motifs and panelled reveals. An ornate metal hood porch with soffit vaulting, a lattice, and a cusped frieze is supported by six four-shaft columns with moulded capitals and arched bracing to the frieze. There is a central brick inscribed with "T. Williams 1800."
