Description
St Alban's Church Hall, located 130 meters to the northwest of St Alban's Church, was built in 1882 as a Sunday School for Miss Houblon of Coopersale Hall, who was also a patron of St Alban's Church. The hall is constructed from polychrome brick and features a plain tile roof. It has a T-plan layout with 20th-century extensions on the south end and in the northwest corner near the entrance. The building is designed in a High Victorian "Reformed" or "modern" Gothic style, with elevations made of yellow stock brick accented by red and blue brick string courses and dressings.
The projecting gable includes an arched recessed panel with bi-partite double hung sash windows that have glazing bars, situated under two central arches made of rubbed brick. Above these arches, the large arch's head is filled with nailhead brick and a quatre-foil opening. There is a decorative brick drip moulding above the arch, and a dogtooth brick course runs beneath the projecting gable verge. The gable roof features a quarter hip and a cross wing, both adorned with decorative ridge tiles and crocket finials. The parish hall is part of a group with St Alban's Church located to the southwest.
