Description
The wall and railings to the east of Brook House date from the late 18th century. They are constructed of stock brick in Flemish bond with stone coping. The piers are made of red brick topped with red tile copings, and the railings are made of cast iron. The wall is approximately 2 metres high and runs along the southeast side of High Road, extending from the boundary of Farthings to the southwest elevation of Brook House, covering a distance of about 45 metres and featuring one double gateway. Beyond this, a dwarf wall approximately 1 metre high supports railings of the same height and continues southwest for about 80 metres. Sections on either side of High Mead have been rebuilt further back to allow for splayed sight lines.
