Description

These are two cottages dating from the 18th century, originally part of the King’s Head Inn. The cottages have a timber frame with weatherboarding and plaster, and a roof of handmade red clay tiles. They run northeast to southwest, with a northwest-facing aspect. A single chimney stack is situated on the front slope of the roof, towards the southwest. A single-storey, lean-to extension runs along the entire rear, likely dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. A two-storey extension is situated behind the northeastern end, featuring an end chimney stack and a hipped roof. The cottages have two storeys. The front has two plain, boarded doors with shallow hoods, dating to the 19th century. Below are two double-hung sash windows with nine panes, and a canted bay with three double-hung sash windows, each containing eight, sixteen, or eight panes, all dating to the early 19th century. A first-floor level, there are three double-hung sash windows with nine panes each, also from the early 19th century. A dentilled wooden cornice and a wooden parapet complete the exterior.
