Description
Clarks Farmhouse is a house dating from the 14th or 15th century, featuring a hall and a crosswing, along with a 20th-century crosswing to the right. The building is timber framed and roughly rendered, topped with a red plain tiled roof that has three gabled dormers. It stands two storeys high, with a first-floor window arrangement of 1:3:1 and a ground floor arrangement of 1:4:1, both consisting of small paned casements and small paned vertical sliding sashes. To the left, there is a six-panel door in a plain surround with a plain frieze above, and to the right, a stable-type door. The house has two red brick chimney stacks located on the central range. Inside, the hall features a cross-quadrate crownpost roof with heavily sooted timbers and an inserted original fireplace. The crosswing, which was originally jettied to the rear, still has the brackets intact. The interior displays much exposed timber, including chamfered and stop-chamfered beams, with halved and bridled scarfs visible, and a mullion window.
