Description

No. 86 East Hill is a large house built between 1817 and 1818, featuring an elaborate stucco front. It was constructed for the Reverend John Saville and has two storeys, attics, and a basement, topped with a slate roof. The house has a five-window range of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The upper storey windows are adorned with a moulded cornice, consoles, and an enriched frieze, while the central window consists of a group of three with a pediment head. The ground floor windows have arched heads decorated with plaster wreaths. A very large Greek Doric porch with columns arranged in pairs is approached by a flight of steps. Nos. 86 to 89 East Hill form a group.
