Description

The building is a brewery known as Messrs Ind Coope Limited, constructed in 1888 by H Stopes. It features a combination of gault and red brick with stone detailing, showcasing an ornamental, round-arched industrial style. The structure is three to four storeys high and has an asymmetrical front. To the left, there is a carriage entrance, while the main section has three arches with lunette windows. The upper part is adorned with strip pilasters and a corbelled parapet. The paired windows are supported by colonnettes, and the first-floor windows are square-headed, arched above, with an eagle in a niche positioned over the entrance. The entrance arch has impost blocks dated 1828 and 1888, and there is an inscription that reads "the Colchester Brewing Company Limited 1888."
