Description
11A and 11B on High Street is a 17th-century house that features a notable late Georgian front. The building has three storeys and is constructed of grey gault brick with a parapet, presenting a five-window range. The first floor boasts a large oriel window with an arched design, fluted columns, and decorative medallions and swags, along with double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars. The second floor oriel window is treated with a segmental arch and has a large moulded cornice. The ground floor has a modern shop window, with the ground floor and basement currently used as a shop and restaurant. A rear ground floor room, which has been demolished, previously featured remarkable painted panelling from around 1700. This room was entirely panelled, complete with bolection moulding and a dentilled cornice, and included paintings of architecture and landscapes within the panels, as well as a panelled overmantel above the fireplace on the west wall.
