Description
No 156 on High Street is a building dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The front is made of grey gault brick, while the rear is constructed of red brick. The building stands three storeys tall and features two sash windows with glazing bars, along with a canted French window on the first floor. The ground floor has a modern shop front and an arched doorway framed by a rusticated stucco architrave. A cast iron balcony is present on the first floor. The upper floors have brick pilasters at either end and a sunk panel in the centre. The building is topped with a parapet and has a slate roof. No 156 is part of a group that includes Nos 156 to 158 (consecutive) and the Albert Hall.
