Description
Abberton Manor is a late 17th century or early 18th century house constructed of red brick, topped with a red plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and attics, featuring a five-window range of double hung vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars set in stone surrounds mounted on brackets. It has two gables that include semi-circular windows. There are early 19th century extensions at both the east and west ends, built in red brick with sash windows that match the original design. The east end has undergone extensive modernisation, while the north front has been significantly altered in the early 20th century. At the west end, there is a single storey kitchen wing from the 19th century, also in red brick with a red plain tile roof and double hung vertical sliding sash windows. Inside, the manor retains original features such as fire surrounds, shutters, architraves, doors, and a notable early 19th century geometric staircase with slender cast iron foliated balusters and a wreathed handrail.
