Description

The Maltings is a late 16th-century house, originally timber-framed and now plastered. It is two storeys high and has a red plain tile roof. The south gable end is weatherboarded. A gabled extension projects from the south end of the front elevation, and there is a 19th-century red and painted brick lean-to. The remainder of the front elevation features a parapet wall and a moulded string course. The front has a five-window range of 18th-century double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The original main chimney stack is built of red brick. The entrance features an 18th-century door case with a pediment, designed for three bays plus a chimney bay. Adjoining the house is a stable range, now converted into garages, built of red brick and covered by a red pantile roof. The building is of group value, contributing significantly to the character of the area.
