Description
Fields Farmhouse is a mid-18th century house constructed of red brick, topped with a hipped roof made of red plain tiles. The building stands two storeys high and features a three-window range with double hung vertical sliding sashes that have glazing bars and are adorned with rubbed brick arches. At the north end, there is a rear wing that includes 19th-century and modern casements, as well as a bakehouse that retains its original 18th-century chimney. The farmhouse has a simple Tuscan porch supported by detached pillars. Inside, much of the detailing dates from the mid-18th century, including shutters, fireplace surrounds, doors, skirtings, and architraves. An early 19th-century staircase features stick balusters, a moulded handrail, and turned newels.
