Description

Valley House is a 16th-century house, with significant alterations and additions dating to the 17th century. The house is timber-framed and plastered, extending over two storeys with attics. It has a ridged roof covered in peg tiles. A timber porch, dating from the 17th century, is situated on the south front. A brick stair wing projects to the north of the main house, containing a dog-leg staircase notable for its carved newels and turned balusters, considered among the finest examples of their kind. The stair tower features casement windows, now renewed, and are set beneath moulded labels. There are three red brick chimney stacks, distinguished by their octagonal shafts. The front of the house has windows arranged in sets of three, each window comprised of casements with two mullions and one transom. Inside, the house features carved oak ceiling cornices.
