Description

Bellrope Cottage and Cadmus Cottage form a range of cottages dating from the 16th to 17th centuries. Originally comprising five tenements, they are now combined into two dwellings. The cottages are timber-framed and have been plastered over. They are one storey high with attics. The windows are casement types. A gabled porch with a boarded stable-style door is present. The roof is tiled, featuring three dormers with sloping roofs and two gabled dormers. The interior retains exposed timber framing. The cottages were once believed to be almshouses, and are located on the west side of the Great and Little Main Road in Leighs.
