Description
Navestock Kennels is a house that dates from the 17th century, 18th century, and 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with weatherboarding and a hipped peg-tiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has a two-celled layout with a two-window range. The windows are 20th-century wooden casements, and there is a 20th-century porch located off-centre. A central stack from the 18th century is present, along with a 20th-century brick sill that runs around the house. To the west, there is a 20th-century addition that is rendered, featuring a window in the gable and a hipped peg-tiled roof, as well as a 20th-century lean-to porch. The interior framing reflects two different periods, with the original single-storey structure from the 17th century raised to two storeys in the 18th century using less expensive materials. The original wall plate remains, complete with rafter seatings and a bladed scarf joint. There are two back-to-back fireplaces on the ground floor, and the roof features a rudimentary raking queen strut design.
