Description
The White House is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of Station Hill in Bures Hamlet. It is constructed of plastered brick and features a slate roof. The building has a double range plan facing northeast, with two internal chimney stacks and a service range at the right rear. The front facade includes a four-window range of sash windows with 12 lights, some of which contain crown glass. The ground floor windows have recessed panels below and simple architraves, while the first floor windows are fitted with external louvred shutters. A five-panel door with a rectangular light above is set within a Doric portico that has a flat roof. The house has bands at the first-floor level and below the eaves, and grey brick chimney stacks. The roof has a low pitch. Additionally, there is a three-window range of sash windows with 12 lights and crown glass on the left return wall. Inside, the house retains original high-quality detailing, including a staircase with decorative iron balustrading, doors, architraves, skirtings, cornices, and window shutters.
