Description
Wentworth House is a notable 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house located at 885 Bradford Street in Brocking. The building features a jet tied upper storey with exposed timber framing and has three gables, two of which are jet tied above the first storey. It consists of two storeys, attics, and cellars. The first storey includes three 18th-century double hung sash windows with glazing bars in flush cased frames, along with two later sash windows that have vertical glazing bars and small casements on either side of the window at the south end. The house originally had a richly carved shell canopy, which has been removed during restoration and is reportedly stored safely. The roofs are tiled and feature 17th-century rainwater heads on either side of the central gable, which bear the initials and date: FJ 1679.
