Description
This barn, located approximately 50 meters west-south-west of Botter's Farmhouse, dates back to the early 16th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered and weatherboarded, with a thatched main roof and a midstrey roof covered with handmade red clay tiles. The barn consists of four bays aligned east-west, with a later midstrey added to the south. The western bay was formerly partitioned from the rest of the structure. Notable architectural details include jowled posts, heavy studding with curved tension braces that are trenched to the outside, and an edge-halved and bridled scarf in the wallplate. The barn has arched braces to cambered tiebeams, although some of these have been replaced by bolted knees. The roof has been rebuilt above the tiebeam level in a clasped purlin form.
