Description

Browns Farmhouse is an early 17th-century house with an 18th-century gault brick facade. It is timber-framed and plastered, with a hipped red tiled roof and projecting eaves. The house has two storeys and originally a two-window range, with pilasters featuring moulded capitals to the right and left. Later 19th-century, three-light vertical sash windows are set within this range. A central, enclosed gabled porch with ornate bargeboards shelters a 20th-century panelled door. A central brick chimney stack rises from the facade. The main timber frame is exposed internally, revealing a three-bay layout with stop-chamfered beams featuring run-out stops. Deeds dating back to circa 1600 are available.
