Description
This is a wall located approximately 5 metres south-east of Faulkbourne Hall, dating from the 16th century or earlier, with alterations made in the late 17th century. The wall is constructed of red brick in both English and irregular bond. It starts about 5 metres south-east of the southern corner of Faulkbourne Hall and extends approximately 20 metres to the south-southwest, where it connects to a later, unlisted wall. There is one gateway featuring a Tudor head made of gauged brick. The wall is built on seven wide brick arches, which are visible just above ground level on the outer (northeast) side, while the inner side is covered by higher ground. The wall stands approximately 3 metres high, with the upper 0.5 metre having been rebuilt. This structure is a remnant of a much longer wall that likely enclosed a garden, most of which was removed when the southeast wing of Faulkbourne Hall was constructed. The exact purpose of the arches is unclear; they seem too wide for bee boles, although bee boles may exist below the current ground level.
