Description
This granary and cartlodge, dating from the 17th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries, is located approximately 50 metres southeast of Great Yeldham Hall. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of corrugated iron. The structure consists of three bays aligned northwest to southeast. Originally, the granary was supported by eight posts, allowing the lower storey to be open all around for use as a cartlodge. Over time, three of the walls have been infilled with timber framing and weatherboards. Inside, there are chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops and plain joists of deep section. The original straight braces to the girts and bolted hanging knees to the binding beams are also notable features.
