Description
The cartlodge, located approximately 80 metres west-south-west of Terling Hall Farmhouse, dates from around 1800. It is constructed partly of red brick in English bond and partly timber framed with weatherboarding, topped with a slate roof. The structure features seven bays that open to the southwest, spanning approximately 9 metres. The brick walls are present on the left and rear sides, with six concrete buttresses supporting the rear. The right side is timber framed. The roof has a low pitch and includes king-post roof trusses made of imported softwood, featuring pegged joints and bolted at the base of the king-post, with bolted knees supporting the open front. This cartlodge is notable for its exceptional span and is largely in original condition.
