Description
Wash Farm is a mid-16th century building with a rectangular plan. It has two storeys and attics, constructed with timber framing and plaster, topped by a red plain tile hipped roof. The original chimney stack features grouped shafts on a square base. The upper storey of the south-west front projects, and there is an original doorway with a four-centred head and sunk chamfered reveals. The building includes two large 17th-century gabled dormers and a four-window range of late 19th-century casements. Inside, much of the frame is intact, showcasing moulded beams and some original windows. The rear wing is also from the 16th century or earlier, originally open to the roof; the first floor and chimney stack were added in the mid-16th century, and the roof was rebuilt in the late 17th century. The main roof remains original, featuring side purlins and arch braces.
