Description

This is a house, dating from the 18th century, that has been divided into three cottages and altered in the 19th century. It is timber-framed with plaster render, and the roof is covered with a mix of handmade red plain tiles and slate. The original building is a single-span range facing southeast. It has two axial stacks – one between numbers 65 and 67, and another at the right-hand end (number 69). A two-storey, single-span lean-to extension runs along the full length of the rear elevation, creating a catslide roofline. Behind the right-hand end is a 19th-century ancillary building with a painted brick ground floor, a weatherboarded upper floor, and a red clay pantile roof, topped with an end stack. This smaller building is joined to the rear extension. The front of the house has three early 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor. The first floor includes one 19th-century sash window with twelve panes (in number 67), and two 20th-century casements. There are three 4-panel doors, each with a small canopy supported by scrolled brackets. A moulded cornice runs along the eaves. The front roof slopes down to a tiled pitch, while the rear roof is raised and slated. The building abuts number 71 High Street on its right end.
