Description

Eagle Farm Cottages is a Grade II* listed long-jetty house dating from the early 16th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. The building is timber framed and has plaster that mimics stone blocks, topped with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. It consists of five bays aligned approximately north-south, with an eastern aspect and an axial chimney stack located near the center. There is a northern extension featuring an external chimney stack at the end, and a western extension with an internal chimney stack, creating an L-plan layout. The house is two stories high.

On the eastern elevation, there is a six-panel door at the front of a flat-roofed porch (for no. 3), a four-panel door (for no. 2), and three 20th-century casement windows. The full-length jetty is plastered, supported by four hollow-moulded brackets visible below. The first floor has three 20th-century casement windows. In the northern extension (no. 1), there is one 20th-century casement window on each floor. The central chimney stack features four grouped diagonal shafts.

Inside, above the ground floor, the joists have double-ogee mouldings and elaborate foliate stops, while the beams also feature double-ogee mouldings. The original timber ceiling above the first floor is richly decorated, with beams and wall plates carved in a helical foliate design that is deeply cut and fringed. The joists on this level are double-ogee moulded with foliate stops. The roof structure includes side purlins with arched wind-braces.
