Description
Rose Cottage is an early 19th-century house designed in a Picturesque style. It is constructed of red brick in stretcher bond, with the front elevation primarily covered in fishscale red clay tiles and a slate roof. The house is aligned approximately north to south, with its main aspect facing east, and features a rear wing extending from the south end, complete with an end chimney stack.
The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front elevation. At the center, there is a slated gabled porch with fishscale tile-hanging on the sides and a half-glazed door. Flanking the porch are two Gothick windows, each adorned with scalloped bargeboards. At the half-floor level in the middle, there is a plain casement window, and above it, a Gothick arched window featuring Y-tracery. On the first floor, there are two additional Gothick windows. While most of the front elevation is tile-hung, there are short sections of red brick in stretcher bond at each end. The eaves are scalloped, and the roof has a hipped design with a shallow pitch.
