Description
This pair of gateposts, located 3.84 and 8.08 metres respectively south-east of No. 6, Covenbrook Cottages, dates from the early 19th century. They are made of cast iron and are octagonal in shape, featuring flared capitals and squat finials with an ogee profile. The more northerly post has a floral bud termination and stands at an overall height of 1.75 metres, while the more southerly post, which is missing its bud termination, has an overall height of 1.55 metres. These gateposts were likely created around the same time as the formation of Stisted Hall Park between 1823 and 1825, and they are attributed to the architect Henry Hakewill, who designed Stisted Hall.
