Description
Cuckoo Pastures Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with additions made around 1700 and in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame with plastering, red brick, and early 19th-century brick, topped with plain tile roofs. The building has two storeys and an attic, originally designed as a three-unit plan farmhouse in the 16th century. The service end was rebuilt, and a parallel range was added to the street, forming a double pile around 1700. The parlour end was also rebuilt, and the street range was extended in the early 19th century.
Architectural details include a dentil and sawtooth brick eaves cornice, bands at the floor levels, and a plinth. The east gable features a pair of tumbled brick parapets and oval windows. The street elevation has three casement windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, all set in segmental brick arches. An extension to the west includes a bay with four-paned hung sash windows recessed at each floor, along with a 19th-century wooden doorcase and a five-panelled, half-glazed door.
Inside, the farmhouse contains three inglenook hearths, one ovolo moulded ceiling beam, and some substantial exposed timbers.
